LocHal Library is open again

The locHal unlocked: since May 20th you can once again visit the LocHal Library. The library staff are looking forward to welcoming you back after five months of closure.

As of May 20th, you may again borrow and return books at the LocHal Library during its regular opening hours. You may also take a seat at the reading table again, make copies or printouts and view the exhibition "Wunderkammer - the magical object".Reservations in advance are only necessary if you want to use a workspace (reserve a study space) at the Library or if you’d like to visit one of our consultations.

Seats2meet is open for essential meetings, as well as to rent a single-person office space, their so-called ‘Office4aDay'. Contact them here to inquire about their services.

Good to know before your visit

We've arranged everything so that  you can always keep 1.5 meters apart from others in the LocHal. To make a visit safe and pleasant for everyone, there are also a number of important house rules - for example, do not come to the LocHal if you have any Covid-like symptoms.

Reserve an study space

All are once again welcome to use the workspaces at the LocHal Library. You are, however, required to make a reservation in advance. Read here how to do this. Not all places are available because we have to safeguard a distance of 1.5 meters between our visitors.

This is how you reserve a study space.

StadsCafé open

The StadsCafé in the LocHal is open again! You can drop by from Monday to Saturday from 9 to 18h and Sundays from 12 to 17h. It is also possible to come along for a coffee to go and something sweet.

Consultations and online activities

One-to-one consultation hours are also resuming at LocHal Library (by registration). Keep an eye on our calendar for the current schedule. In addition, we also offer a programme of free online courses and online activities, such as the Parents' Meet Up about setting boundaries next week, a Keti Koti kick off, and an online talk show about Creating energy together. Unfortunately, on-site courses or group activities are not yet possible under current Covid measures.

Exhibits

Art lovers can also visit the LocHal again. From Thursday 20 May, the exhibition "Wunderkammer - the magical object" can finally be viewed. Here you'll get a unique insight into the collective universe of three of Tilburg’s own artists: Paul
Bogaers, Ton de Gouw and Wijnand van Lieshout.

In addition, the exhibition "When LEGO becomes ART" by Jordy Koevoets can also still be seen in the wall-mounted showcases on the ground floor of the LocHal. He made famous works of art with Lego and developed a fun treasure hunt for young and old.

The Dutch House of Representatives insisted on opening libraries

In the ‘plan to reopen society’, presented in mid- April by the ministerial Cabinet, Libraries were initially assigned to step 3 (now scheduled for 9 June). Last week, however, the House of Representatives insisted on opening Libraries earlier on, because they have an important local function - among others for seniors and children. We are therefore pleased that, step by step, we can take up that broad function again - the Library as a place where locals meet, where people can find the information they need; a place where knowledge and stories are shared.
